The Depford

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The The Depford Co. Ltd. was a British automobile manufacturer based in London . 1914-1921 small cars under the name De P were built there.

In 1914 the De P 8/10 hp appeared , which can be regarded as the successor to the Duo . Like this, the De P was available with a square (bore = stroke) V2 engine with 0.96 l displacement, which was available in an air and a water-cooled version on request. Alternatively, there was also a larger V2 engine with 1.1 l displacement and water cooling. The latter, however, only existed in 1914, while the smaller sister model was offered until 1915.

Also in 1914 the De P 10 hp with an inline four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1.1 l was also presented. In 1916, the displacement of this model was increased slightly and the wheelbase grew from 2,489 mm to 2,591 mm.

In 1921 another De P 10 hp appeared as the only post-war model , but its four-cylinder engine had a displacement of 1.5 l.

In the same year the brand disappeared from the market.
