Speedwell Motor and Engineering Company was a British manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
The company began producing automobiles in Reading in 1900 . In 1906 it was renamed New Speedwell Motor Company Limited and moved to London .
Production was stopped around 1908.

In 1904 there were the 6 HP models with a single-cylinder built -in engine from De Dion-Bouton with 699 cm³ displacement , 9 HP with a single-cylinder engine with 1032 cm³ displacement and 25 HP with a four-cylinder engine with 4084 cm³ displacement. In 1905 the 10/12 HP models followed with a two-cylinder engine with 1961 cm³ displacement and 14/16 HP with a four-cylinder engine with 2497 cm³ displacement. In 1906 there was the 18/22 HP with four-cylinder engine with 3922 cm³ displacement and in 1907 the six-cylinder model 40 HP with 7413 cm³ displacement. In the last year of production, the range consisted of the four-cylinder models 25 HP with 4942 cm³ displacement, 24/30 HP with 4849 cm³ displacement, 30/35 HP with 5322 cm³ displacement and the six-cylinder model 45/60 HP with 7273 cm³ displacement.
Two vehicles of this brand occasionally take part in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run .
