Arrol-Johnston
Arrol-Johnston was a British car brand.
Company history
The company Mo-Car Syndicate Limited began in 1897 in Camlachi in Glasgow with the production of automobiles . In 1906 the name was changed to The New Arrol-Johnston Car Co Limited and the company moved to Paisley . In 1913 the company was renamed Arrol-Johnston Limited and moved to Heathhall near Dumfries . In 1927, as a result of a collaboration with Aster Engineering, the company was renamed Arrol-Johnston & Aster Engineering Co Limited . After that, the brand name Arrol-Aster was used for some models . Production ended in 1931.
An Arrol-Johnston vehicle was on the Nimrod Expedition (1907–1909) led by the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton . The Arrol Icefall was named after the company for this reason.

commercial vehicles
Between 1904 and 1915 the company also manufactured trucks up to 3 tons with underfloor motors and chain drives. The 2.5- and 3-ton trucks were equipped with a cardan drive from 1913 . Some vehicles were also available with battery-electric drives .
