The Arrol Icefall is a 5 km long glacier break on the Nordenskjöld coast of Graham Land in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located on the south side of the Detroit Plateau at a distance of 13 km northwest of Cape Worsley .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out a mapping from 1960 to 1961. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it after the British company Arrol-Johnston , manufacturer of the first automobile to be driven in Antarctica. This vehicle was used on the Nimrod expedition (1907–1909) led by the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton .
