The Nordenskjöld Coast is a stretch of coast in the east of the Antarctic Peninsula . In graham country it lies between Cape Longing and Cape Fairweather . The Seal Islands , Robertson Island and Lindenberg Island lie off the Nordenskjöld coast . The Oskar II coast joins in the south , and the east coast of the Trinity Peninsula in the north .
The name goes back to a suggestion by the American mountaineer, glaciologist and Antarctic historian Edwin Swift Balch (1856-1927) from 1909. It is named after the Swedish geologist Otto Nordenskjöld (1869–1928), head of the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903), during which this stretch of coast was explored.
