Bean was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company Harper, Sons & Bean Limited from Tipton took over the automobile manufacturer Perry Motor Company Ltd. in 1919 . from Tyseley near Birmingham . In 1926 the company was taken over by the British steel company Hadfields Limited and renamed Bean Cars Limited . From 1927 the vehicles were offered as Hadfield Bean .

The first 11.9 HP model was an evolution of the Perry Motor Co Limited vehicle. It had a four-cylinder engine with 1794 cm³ displacement , which made 21 hp , and was offered until 1924. About 10,000 copies were made. From 1923 to 1926 there was the 14 HP model with a four-cylinder engine with 2385 cm³ displacement and 32 HP. 1927 appeared as the last model of the 18/50 HP , also called Imperial Six , with a six-cylinder engine from Meadows with 2692 cm³ displacement.

Ten vehicles of this brand are on display in the Bredgar and Wormshill Light Railway Museum and another vehicle can be seen in the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley .
