Hilton Pacey Motors

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hilton Pacey Motors (sometimes also: Hilton-Peacey Motors ) was a British manufacturer of cycle cars , which was based in Woking (Surrey) from 1926 to 1928 . In addition to the founders Hilton Skinner and Bob Peacey , the company had two employees. The three-wheeled vehicles produced there were given the name HP .

Most vehicles were equipped with a 500 cc air-cooled single cylinder engine from JAP , but one vehicle had a larger 600 cc version, two a 500 cc single cylinder two-stroke engine from Dunelt and three 500 cc ohc single cylinder engines from Vulpine . The engine power was transmitted through a chain to a Sturmey-Archer three-speed gearbox and from there through another long chain to the individual rear wheel. Many parts, including the front axle, were bought by Blériot-Whippet , who had previously ceased operations. Hilton Pacey Motors also offered spare parts for the Blériot Whippet cycle car.

The two-seater, open superstructures were made of plywood covered with fabric. The chassis was made of laminated ash and the front axle was suspended on quarter-elliptical leaf springs. To simplify the chassis, the individual rear wheel was unsprung.

A total of around 40 automobiles were built. The retail price was £ 65.
