Chambers Motors Limited , previously Chambers & Co. , was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was in 1897 in Belfast in Northern Ireland as Chambers & Co. founded. Automobile production began in 1904 under the direction of the brothers Robert and James (Jack) Chambers. James Chambers previously worked at Vauxhall . The first model was marketed as Downshire until February 1905 . Then the brand name Chambers was used. In 1907 the name was changed to Chambers Motors . At that time the company was the largest manufacturer of automobiles on the island of Ireland . Around 100 copies were made by 1914. During the First World War were commercial vehicles manufactured and then back passenger cars. In 1927, production ended after around 500 copies were made. In August 1929 bankruptcy was filed.
