The Dunkley Car Company was a British manufacturer of strollers , which at times also made automobiles .

Company history

The Birmingham-based company began producing automobiles in 1896. The brand name was Dunkley . Production ended in 1924. In addition, the Alvechurch was made at Dunkley in 1912 .

vehicles

The first vehicle from 1896 had a small front wheel, two large wheels in the center of the vehicle and a small rear wheel. The motor was mounted in the middle and drove the middle axle. The wicker body was designed as dos-à-dos . The vehicle could be steered from both the front and the rear seat. However, the brake could only be operated from the rear seat.

In addition, some three-wheelers were created in the style of vehicles for the disabled.

In 1901 the next four-wheeled vehicle appeared, which now had the usual wheel arrangement. It offered two seats in a row.

In 1915, Dunkley manufactured motorized tricycles for which no further data is available.

The last motor vehicles were built between 1922 and 1924. The Pramotor model was again unusually designed. A kind of scooter without a front wheel formed the rear of the vehicle. Any body could be assembled beforehand. As a rule, these were prams, but at least a closed coupé was created . The available engines with 1 hp and 2.75 hp were weak. Both the high price of £ 141.75 and the ban on motor vehicles on sidewalks made the model unsuccessful.
