Sports Motor Car Co. was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Kensington-based company manufactured automobiles with the brand name Sports between 1900 and 1901 . Thereafter the brand name was Mayfair . Production ended in 1906.

There were three models on offer. These were imported chassis with their own bodies. In the smallest model, a single-cylinder engine with 4.5 HP powered the rear axle via a chain. In the larger model, a two-cylinder engine with 8 hp provided the drive. The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle by means of a cardan shaft . The four-speed transmission came from Gautier-Wehrlé . In 1901 a model with a two-cylinder engine, 9 HP engine power and cardan drive was added.
