Ailsa-Craig

Ailsa-Craig was a British automobile brand that was manufactured from 1901 to 1910 at the engine manufacturer and engineering company Putney Motor Co. in Putney , London Borough of Wandsworth , London . The cars were also offered as Craig-Dorwald .

These cars were mainly custom-made items. However, some models were produced at least in small series around 1906. They were equipped with two- or four-cylinder engines with displacements between 0.7 l and 6.0 l.

Ailsa Craig is originally the name of a Scottish island.

Two engineers from Putney Motor Co , the German-British Gottfried Ludwig Dörwald (around 1873–?) And Alistair Edward Stuart Craig , designed the first V12 engine in 1904 , a gasoline engine for motor boats.
