Company history

The Beeston Motor Cycle Co company began producing automobiles in Coventry around 1898 , with the Beeston Voiturette, a copy of the successful De Dion Voiturette, but with simple glow tube ignition instead of the high voltage ignition from De Dion-Bouton . Production was stopped in 1899. Later the manufacturer Humber used the name Beeston as the model designation for some of its vehicles.

vehicles

Initially, Tricycles ( three-wheelers ) and Quadricycles (four-wheelers) were produced. The 3½ HP model followed in 1899 , a small car that was equipped with a single-cylinder built -in engine from De Dion-Bouton . The engine had a displacement of 402 cm³ and was installed under the seat.

Vehicles of this brand can be seen at the Museum of Transport in Glasgow and the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull .
