John Child Meredith Ltd. was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was based at 395 Summer Lane in Birmingham . From 1901 at the latest, it manufactured accessories such as ignition equipment. In 1902 the production of automobiles began. The brand names were Abingdon and Meredith . Automobile production ended in 1903. The connection to Abingdon Works , which made automobiles in Tyseley near Birmingham between 1922 and 1923, is unclear.

The first model Abingdon 3½ HP was a voiturette . A single-cylinder engine drove the rear axle via a chain. The transmission had two gears. The distribution was carried out by Coxeter & Sons from Abingdon .

The Meredith 9 HP had a two-cylinder engine . The Tonneau body shape offered space for four people.
