George W. Hands founded the company in Birmingham in 1897 as the successor to the Hands & Cake Company . The production of vehicles began. The brand name was Bard . The production of motor vehicles ended around 1900. Bicycles were made until 1905. Minstrel Cycle Company was the successor company. George W. Hands moved to Calthorpe .
