EJ Coles & Company was a British manufacturer and importer of automobiles .

Company history

Mr. Coles founded the company in 1901. The seat was on Princes Street in the Upper Holloway district of London . However, the production plant was located in Tägerwilen, Switzerland . In 1901 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Belle . Production ended in 1903. Vehicles from other manufacturers were still offered in 1904.

The first Belle had a single cylinder engine with 6 hp , which was mounted under a short bonnet. The steering wheel was in the middle of the vehicle. The tonneau body was accessible to the rear passengers through a rear door. Later the engine developed 8 hp.

The company also offered the 6 HP , 7 HP , 10 HP , 12 HP , 22 HP and 24 HP models from unknown manufacturers.

On April 24, 2014, the auction house H&H Classics Limited auctioned a 6/8 HP in need of restoration without an engine from around 1901 for £ 21,280 .
