The Kanektok River is an approximately 145 km long tributary of the Bering Sea in southwest Alaska .
The Kanektok River forms the drain of the Kagati Lake . It flows in a predominantly westerly direction to Kuskokwim Bay and flows into the Bering Sea 2.5 km west of Quinhagak .
The river separates the Ahklun Mountains to the south from the Eek Mountains . Almost 120 km of the river are within the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge . The upper section of the river is characterized by rocks and rapids, while the lower reaches in the extreme south of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta forks into several branches of the river. The lower 30 km are heavily frequented by motor boats.
The river is a destination for fishing tourists. There are caught mainly following fish species: rainbow trout , lake trout , Arctic grayling , king salmon , silver salmon , chum salmon and sockeye salmon .
At ( 59 ° 46 ′ 12.7 ″ N , 161 ° 4 ′ 0.6 ″ W ) there is a weir on the Kanektok River that is used to count fish.
