Quinhagak ( 'kwɪn ə hɑk ) is a village in the US state of Alaska in the Bethel Census Area . The village of Quinhagak is located on Kuskokwim Bay in the south of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta at the mouth of the Kanektok River . Most of the residents are Yup'ik Indians. The Yup'ik name is Kuinneraq, which means something like new river guidance .
history
Quinhagak is an ancient village, the origin of which is around 1000 AD. In 1826 Gavril Sarichev reported on the village in a diagram. After the purchase of Alaska from Russia in 1867, the Alaska Commercial Company delivered groceries to the village annually. In 1893 a Moravian mission was established. At that time there were many foreigners in the village. A post office was opened in 1905, followed by a school in 1909.

Quinhagak relies on air transport. There are plans to expand the airport. A port and dock were recently built.
