Company history
Samuel Robert Batson founded the company in the London borough of Penge in 1902 and began producing motorcycles. In 1903 or 1904 automobiles added to the range. The brand name was Bat . TH Tessier took over the company in 1904. Automobile production ended in 1909 and motorcycle production ended in 1924.
Automobiles
Initially Tricars were on offer . These were tricycles with a single rear wheel. A seat for a passenger was mounted between the front wheels. A single-cylinder engine with either 3 HP or 6 HP power was mounted deep in the frame and drove the rear wheel. In 1904 the appearance was changed somewhat towards the automobile. So the driver now had a real seat instead of a motorcycle saddle . The front seat was surrounded by wood and more integrated into the vehicle. A two-cylinder engine from the Fafnir works with 6 hp powered the vehicle.
In 1909 the Carcycle model appeared . It looked like a motorcycle with a sidecar , but had four wheels, the two in front being steerable.
