The London Borough of Bromley [ ˈbɹɒmli ] is a borough of London . It is located in the southeast of the city. When the Greater London Administrative Region was established in 1965, it emerged from the Municipal Borough of Bromley , the Municipal Borough of Beckenham , the Penge Urban District , the Orpington Urban District and part of the Chislehurst and Sidcup Urban District in Kent . In 1969 the village of Knockholt was separated and added to the Sevenoaks district in Kent.
The population in 2008 was composed of 87.7% white, 3.9% Asian, 4.4% black and 0.8% Chinese.
Bromley is the largest borough in terms of area and is considered the most rural area of London because of its extensive green spaces and agricultural zones in the south. Biggin Hill Airport , located near the town of the same name, is an important location for business aviation in the London area with around 90,000 flights per year . Neuwied is twin town.
Bromley rose from 1854 bis 1936 the Crystal Palace .
