Andy Bown
Andrew Steven Bown (born March 27, 1946 in Beckenham ) is a British musician and keyboard player for the rock group Status Quo .
1965 Andy Bown founded the group The Herd , who later also to Peter Frampton joined. With the singles From the Underworld and I Don't Want Our Loving to Die and the album Paradise Lost , The Herd had great success, especially with younger fans.
The Herd broke up in the late 1960s after Frampton joined Humble Pie . As a result, Bown played with Judas Jump and worked as a studio musician on various recordings. For example, he was active for Tim Hardin and Status Quo as well as for Frampton's solo albums. Together with Frampton produced Bown 1970 the first album Storyteller of The Storyteller , while for the production of the successor More Pages was solely responsible 1,971th Shortly thereafter, he married Caroline Attard, the singer of The Storyteller, who then called herself Carolyne Bown.
In the 1970s, Bown also released several solo albums under his own name. As a guest musician he supported Pink Floyd in 1979 on the tour for the album The Wall , documented on the album Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live 1980-81 . He was also actively involved in Pink Floyd's 1983 album The Final Cut . In 1976 he became an unofficial member of Status Quo and played the typical intro to the song Rockin 'All over the World . As a writer, he wrote several pieces for Status Quo, including Whatever You Want and Burning Bridges, both top 10 hits in the UK . He has been a full member of the band since 1982 and continues to perform live with them to this day. The keyboard player, who also plays bass, guitar and harmonica as other instruments, is the oldest member of the band.
In 2000 he had himself temporarily replaced by Paul Hirsh at Status Quo in order to take care of his sick wife Carolyn, who died of cancer on July 4, 2001 . In 2002 Bown took over the keyboards at Status Quo again, which he continued to officially lead as a member of the band during his break.
Andy Bown has been married to Ronnie (Veronica) for the second time since 2004 and lives in Barnes in South West London.
In 2011, Andy Bown released another solo album, “Unfinished Business”, more than 30 years after its predecessor “Good Advice”. He was supported by Henry Spinetti (drums), who played with Bown at The Herd as early as the 1960s.
