Knock Holt is a village and a municipality ( Civil Parish ) in the county of Kent in southeast England with about 1200 inhabitants. The village is located far to the west of Kent directly on the border with Greater London about 25 km southeast of central London and about 7 km south of Orpington and 8 km northwest of Sevenoaks .
During the Second World War , the homestead Ivy Farm in the district of The Pound was an important radio eavesdropping station for the British secret service , which specialized in encrypted, secret German radio telex communications (code name Fish ).
