Dunstall
Dunstall was an English motorcycle manufacturer from London , later Belvedere ( Kent ), who from 1967 to 1982 installed engines with enhanced performance, mainly from Norton , later also from Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki, in its own chassis.
history
Paul Dunstall (* 1939) developed accessories for Norton motorcycles as early as 1961, including exhaust manifolds, clip-on handlebars, relocated footrests and fuel tanks made of GRP . In 1962, Dunstall acquired motors from Norton's racing department, which he upgraded individually according to customer requirements, and also supplied his own torsion-resistant motorcycle frames . In 1966, Dunstall was the first motorcycle manufacturer worldwide to offer a hydraulically operated double disc brake for motorcycles developed by Colin Lyster . In 1967 Dunstall was officially recognized as a motorcycle manufacturer by the British tax authorities. Ray Pickrell won the Isle of Man TT Production 750 class in 1968 on a Dunstall Norton with hydraulically operated double disc brakes. The central tubular frame developed by Eddie Robinson in 1969 for the Norton Atlas engine, with the end piece pointing vertically downwards, was reminiscent of a "drainage pipe" and became known in the scene.
