Gilyard (make of car)

Gilyard was a British car brand that was in the market from 1914 to 1919. Manufacturer was Barkerend Engineering Company Ltd. from Bradford, Yorkshire .

Cycle cars and small cars were on offer . In 1914 a car with an air-cooled V2 engine of unknown origin was created, which had a displacement of 1267 cm³ and developed an output of 10 bhp (7.4 kW). The wheelbase of the 2540 mm long and 1524 mm wide vehicle was 1981 mm, its track width 1168 mm. The weight was 254 kg.

In 1916 an 8 hp appeared as a successor. The in-line two-cylinder engine now came from Chater-Lea , was also air-cooled and made 8 bhp (5.9 kW) with its side-mounted valves. The wheelbase had grown to 2032 mm, the track width decreased to 1118 mm. Production was discontinued that same year.

In 1919 the car was launched again for a year, with two wheelbases (2083 mm and 2134 mm) being specified. The track width was 1143 mm.
