Chelmsford Limited was a British manufacturer of automobiles and commercial vehicles .
Company history
The company was founded in 1902 as the successor to Clarkson & Capel Steam Car Syndicate from London . Thomas Clarkson ran the company. The company was based in Chelmsford . The production of motor vehicles continued, with the commercial vehicle sector being significantly more important than the passenger car sector. The brand name was now Chelmsford . In 1903 the car production ended. In 1909 a subsidiary called the National Steam Car Company was established as a transport company in London. In 1920 the company was dissolved. Clarkson then founded Clarkson Steam Motors Ltd., which was active until 1925.

The company made steam cars. The cars were given two-cylinder engines with 12 hp . The commercial vehicles were predominantly buses . In addition, some trucks were built .
