Hands engine

The GW Hands Motor Co. was a British car manufacturer in Birmingham . From 1922–1924, lower middle class cars were built there .

In 1922 the Hands 9.8 hp was introduced. The car was available as a light touring car and had a side-controlled four-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 1.2 l. The wheelbase was 2,286 mm.

The second model this year was the Hands 10/20 hp , whose engine had an extended stroke and thus 1.25 l displacement. The wheelbase was 2,515 mm. This model was built until 1924.

The most powerful model was the Hands 10.5 hp in 1922 . It had a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1.5 liters. The chassis again had a wheelbase of 2,286 mm.

The Hands 15/45 hp appeared in 1924 . It had a four-cylinder engine with an overhead camshaft and a displacement of 1.9 l. The wheelbase grew to 2,743 mm.

That same year, Mr Hands decided to go back to his old employer, Calthorpe . He took the 15/45 hp with him and it appeared as the Calthorpe 12/20 hp III .
