Mikhail Sergejewitsch Tjuljapkin ( Russian Михаил Сергеевич Тюляпкин ; born May 4, 1984 in Gorki , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was last under contract with Amur Khabarovsk in the Continental Hockey League until February 2016 .

Career

Mikhail Tjuljapkin began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth division of HK CSKA Moscow , for which he was active until 2001. Then the defender moved to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod , with whom he reached promotion to the Super League in the 2002/03 season as a champion of the second-rate Vysschaya League . He had previously been selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the ninth round as a total of 268th player by the Minnesota Wild , for which he never played. Instead, the left shooter stayed in Russia, where he was on the ice for Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the super league from 2004 to 2006 . He then received a contract with his league rivals Ak Bars Kazan , with whom he initially failed in the championship final at HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the 2006/07 season , before winning the IIHF Continental Cup with Kazan at European level in 2008 .

For the 2008/09 season Tjuljapkin signed a contract with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod from the newly founded Continental Hockey League and was there until September 2010 under contract. This was followed by a season at HK Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk before he returned to Torpedo in May 2011.

International

For Russia , Tjuljapkin took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2004 , where he finished fifth with his team.
