The Thames Motor Body and Engineering Company ( Thames for short ) was a British body manufacturer that manufactured automobile bodies immediately after the end of the First World War . The company was economically dependent on a single client and collapsed when he became insolvent.

Thames was founded and directed by St. John Cooper, a half-brother of British actress Gladys Cooper . The company was based in Wandsworth , South West London . It was closely associated with Storey Motors , a London-based manufacturer of mid-range automobiles founded in 1919. From 1919 to 1920, Thames manufactured all factory bodies for Storey Motors; The company had no other clients. When Storey was insolvent and dissolved in 1921, Thames could no longer hold out. Cooper ceased operations that same year.
