The McLaren Senna is a super sports car from McLaren with a four-liter V8 mid-engine .

history

The vehicle was shown to the public for the first time in March 2018 at the 88th Geneva Motor Show . The Senna is limited to 500 copies, which were sold out before the official launch. The super sports car is built by hand in Woking, UK . The vehicle is named after the racing driver Ayrton Senna, who died in an accident in 1994 . Like the McLaren P1 , the Senna is part of the McLaren “Ultimate Series” .

In the Federal Republic of Germany, the McLaren Senna costs 922,250 euros. The last vehicle was auctioned off at a private event for McLaren customers in December 2017. The proceeds went to the Instituto Ayrton Senna .

The first vehicle delivered in Germany had an accident at the end of October 2018 shortly after the handover in Munich . The damage to the vehicle is estimated at 850,000 euros.

technology

With a dry weight of 1198 kg, the 588 kW (800 hp) super sports car accelerates to 100 km / h in 2.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 335 km / h. Even at 250 km / h the vehicle reaches 8000 N downforce. The Senna is the lightest vehicle from the manufacturer since the McLaren F1 . This is achieved, among other things, by a chassis made of synthetic resin reinforced with carbon fibers .

At the end of March 2019, Lego presented a full-size replica of the Senna. The 467,854 building blocks were assembled by 30 model makers in 2725 hours. With a weight of around 1.7 tons, the Lego model weighs around 500 kilograms more than the production vehicle. It is also possible to get into the model, but it is not roadworthy.
