WHTZ , also known as Z100 , is a top 40 commercial radio station in Newark, New Jersey , broadcasting for the New York metropolitan area . The station is one of the most influential top 40 stations in the United States.

WHTZ's studios are located in the AT&T Building in the TriBeCa district of New York . The broadcast is on VHF 100.3 MHz (6 kW ERP ) from the Empire State Building . In addition to the normal analogue broadcast, WHTZ broadcasts other programs on its HD radio channels. In addition, the station can be heard across the US via Internet stream and channel 12 on SiriusXM satellite radio. The prefix of the callsign refers to "hits".
