Ryan John Seacrest (born December 24, 1974 in Dunwoody, Georgia , USA ) is an American television and radio presenter.

Life

Seacrest was born on December 24, 1974, to Constance Marie and Gary Lee Seacrest in a suburb of Atlanta . Constance Seacrest told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that her son preferred to host shows with a small microphone at home instead of playing with GI Joes or cowboys and Indians.

Career as a moderator

Seacrest's first appearance was in fourth grade, according to People magazine. He played the role of King Winter in a school musical, forgetting his lyrics. When he was 14, he got a job in high school, which he attended at the time, and made regular announcements over the loudspeakers. At the age of 16 Seacrest got an internship at the radio station WSTR FM in Atlanta. Since the originally intended presenter was sick one day, Seacrest was allowed to represent him and thus presented a radio show for the first time. The next day he got a call from the owner of the station telling him that although he wasn't a professional, his workload the previous night wasn't bad. Shortly thereafter, he took over the weekend moderation at the same station until he graduated from Dunwoody High School in 1992 .

Since 2003 he has been the presenter of the show American Idol , the American equivalent of the British show Pop Idol .

Since January 10, 2004, Ryan Seacrest has hosted the national radio show American Top 40 , which he took over from the legendary American presenter Casey Kasem , who founded the show in 1970. The chart show is produced in two different formats and broadcast on around 400 American radio stations . In Germany you can hear the broadcast on various AFN stations on weekends.

Since February 2004, Ryan Seacrest has also been the morning presenter of the radio station KIIS-FM in Los Angeles , which he took over from long-time presenter Rick Dees. On September 16, 2007, he hosted the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony .

On May 15, 2011 he hosted the Wango Tango Festival at the Staples Center in Los Angeles together with Britney Spears . Since 2013 he is the quizmaster of NBC - Game show The Million Second Quiz .
