The McLaren 650S is a sports car designed and built by McLaren Automotive with a 3.8 liter V8 mid-engine. The model was presented to the public for the first time in March 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show and is technically based on the McLaren MP4-12C that McLaren built between 2011 and 2014. Production of the 12C was discontinued in April 2014 in favor of the 650S. At the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, McLaren presented the more powerful, 650S-based McLaren 675LT .

McLaren presented the successor 720S at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017 .

The 650S is available as a two-door coupé and as a Spider model called the 650S Spider . He uses the same carbon fiber - chassis as the 12C and is of the same, M838T -called 3.8-liter V8 - Biturbo driven -Mittelmotor which, however (650 hp) has been tuned up to 478 kW. A special visual feature of the car are the new scissor doors, which open to almost ninety degrees, but also swivel upwards at the same time, which means they take up a little less space than conventional doors.

Performance

The 650S reaches a top speed of 329 km / h (Spider) and 333 km / h (Coupé). For an acceleration from 0-100 km / h 3.0 seconds are specified, 200 km / h are reached from a standing start after 8.4 seconds (Coupé) or 8.6 seconds (Spider). The maximum torque is 678 Nm at 6000 rpm , the maximum speed 8500 rpm.
