The McLaren 720S is a sports car of McLaren with a four-liter V8 mid-engine .

history

The vehicle was shown to the public for the first time in March 2017 as the successor to the McLaren 650S at the 87th Geneva Motor Show . The super sports car has been at dealerships since May 2017 at prices starting at EUR 247,350. At the beginning of December 2018, McLaren presented the 720S as a Spider . It came to dealers in March 2019 at prices from 273,000 euros. In early March 2020, McLaren presented the more powerful, 720S-based McLaren 765LT .

Technical specifications

With a weight of 1283 kg, the 530 kW (720 hp) sports car accelerates to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 341 km / h.

Compared to the previous model, the 720S is based on a modified carbon chassis that is lighter and more torsion-resistant.

Trivia

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June 2017, Lego presented a full-size replica of the 720S. Six employees from McLaren and Lego assembled the 280,000 or so terminal blocks in around 2000 hours. With a weight of 1.6 tons, the Lego model weighs around 300 kilograms more than the production vehicle.

The football player Kingsley Coman of FC Bayern Munich caused a total loss of his McLaren 720S Coupé in a traffic accident on December 23, 2018 near Munich.
