Career

Adolescence

His parents are both from Guadeloupe ; his father, a fan of Paris Saint-Germain , brought his son to football at an early age. Coman started playing football in 2002 - six years old - sponsored by his father Christian at the US Sénart-Moissy , an amateur club from Moissy-Cramayel about 50 km southeast of Paris in the Seine-et-Marne department .

Paris Saint-Germain

After two years at the club, Coman was discovered by a scout for the first division club Paris Saint-Germain , whereupon he was hired for their youth academy. He made his first division debut as a 16-year-old on February 17, 2013 in the 3-2 defeat in the away game against FC Sochaux by substituting for Marco Verratti in the 87th minute. This was followed by two more short appearances in Ligue 1 and one in the game for the French Supercup , which was won 2-1 against Girondins Bordeaux on August 3, 2013 . He did not get any further opportunities to excel in the first team.

On August 30, 2015, Coman moved to the Bundesliga for the German record champions FC Bayern Munich for two years on loan with an option to buy . He made his Bundesliga debut on September 12, 2015 (4th match day) in a 2-1 win at home against FC Augsburg with the substitution for Arturo Vidal in the 56th minute. Four days later, he made his UEFA Champions League debut for Bayern Munich in a 3-0 away win against Olympiacos when he came on for Robert Lewandowski in the 59th minute . He gave it the template for 2-0 and took out the penalty, which was converted to 3-0. On the following Bundesliga matchday he was in the starting line-up for the first time in the 3-0 away win against SV Darmstadt 98 and scored his first Bundesliga goal with the goal, which made it 2-0. On May 7, 2016 (33rd matchday) he became German champions with FC Bayern and with the cup victory on May 21, 2016 after 4-3 on penalties against Borussia Dortmund , he won the double in his first season in Germany. In 2017 he won the German championship again .

At the end of April 2017, FC Bayern Munich withdrew the purchase option and provided Coman with a contract until June 30, 2020, which was extended early on December 21, 2017 to 2023.

On June 26, 2017, Coman was temporarily arrested in France. He was accused of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend. In September 2017 there was a trial in which he was sentenced to a fine of € 5000.

In February 2018, Coman suffered a syndesmosis . He had to undergo an operation and was only used again in the cup final on May 19, 2018 when he came on for Thomas Müller in the 70th minute of the game . In the first Bundesliga game of the new season against 1899 Hoffenheim , he tore a Syndesmosis ligament again after a foul by Nico Schulz . On May 25, 2019, he scored 2-0 in the cup final in a 3-0 win against RB Leipzig and won the double at the end of the season, consisting of the DFB Cup and the German championship . In the 2019/20 season he won the second triple in the club's history with FC Bayern Munich. In the final of the UEFA Champions League on August 23, 2020 , Coman scored the decisive goal for Bayern's 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the 59th minute after a cross from Joshua Kimmich with a header. This made him the first player in the history of the competition to score against a former club in the final. The hit was also Bayern's 500th in UCL history. He scored with the highest shirt number (29, previously Thomas Müller in 2012, 25) of a UCL final scorer ever.

National team

Coman was a player in the U21 national team from 2014 , after having played a total of 30 international matches for the U16, U17, U18 and U19 age groups . In November 2015, national coach Didier Deschamps called him for the first time in the French A squad for two friendlies against Germany and England . On November 13, 2015 he made his debut in the senior national team in a 2-0 win in the international test match against Germany , substituting for Anthony Martial in the 69th minute. On March 29, 2016, he scored his first international goal with the goal to make it 4-2 in the friendly against Russia in the 76th minute.

At the 2016 European Championships in his own country, he was included in the French squad . In the opening game he was substituted on immediately after the 1: 1 equalization of the Romanian national team. At 19 years and 11 months he was the youngest French player to have played in a World Cup or European Championship . The game ended 2-1 for France. Overall, Coman was used in six of the seven games during the tournament, and he was twice in the starting line-up. In the final against Portugal he was substituted on for Dimitri Payet in the 58th minute , but could not prevent the 0-1 defeat (after extra time). After the tournament, Coman was voted the tournament's second best junior player.

He missed the chance of a nomination for the 2018 World Cup in Russia due to his syndemosis ligament, which meant that he was out for almost the entire second half of the season.
