Anthony "Tony" Joran Martial (born December 5, 1995 in Massy ) is a French football player . The striker is under contract with Manchester United in the Premier League and is a senior international .

Martial began his career in 2001 at Club Omnisports in Les Ulis and from there moved to the youth department of Olympique Lyon in 2009 . For the 2012/13 season he moved up to the first team, but was primarily used for the B-team in the fourth-class CFA in that season . He made his competitive debut for the first team on December 6, 2012 in a 2-0 home win against Ironi Kiryat Shmona in the Europa League . On February 3, 2013 Martial made his debut in the 1: 3 away defeat against AC Ajaccio in Ligue 1 . Overall, he came in the season on two more league appearances and for the second team on five goals in eleven games.

In the summer of 2013, AS Monaco signed him , with whom he signed a contract until June 30, 2016. On November 30, 2013, he scored his first competitive goal in professional football in a 2-0 home game against Stade Rennes . After a successful 2013/14 season , which the club finished as runner-up, Martial played in the 2014/15 season with the Monegasque in the Champions League . In that season he developed into a regular player and came with the team to the CL quarter-finals , in which they failed at Juventus Turin . In the league he scored nine goals in 35 appearances. On June 26, 2015, Martial extended his contract early until June 30, 2019.

Record move to Manchester United

On September 1, 2015, the last day of the transfer window, Martial moved to England's record champions Manchester United in the Premier League . He signed a four-year contract with a term until June 30, 2019. With a transfer fee of around 50 million euros , Martial was the most expensive transfer of a teenager to date. On his league debut on September 12, 2015 against Liverpool , he came on for Juan Mata in the 65th minute and scored the goal in the 87th minute to make it 3-1. After scoring three goals in his first three appearances, he was named English Player of the Month for September . On October 21, 2015 Martial scored his first Champions League goal in a 1-1 draw against CSKA Moscow . He reached third place with the team in the group phase and thus played with her in the knockout phase of the Europa League , in which they advance to the second round . In mid-December 2015, Martial was voted Golden Boy and thus the best European U21 football player in 2015. In the 1-0 win against Everton on April 3, 2016, Martial scored the 1,000th Premier League home goal at Old Trafford . Martial made his debut on September 21, 2010 in a 3-0 win over Belgium for the French U16s . He was substituted on after 62 minutes and scored the goal to make it 1-0 two minutes later. He played for the U17s of the French Football Association on September 27, 2011 in a 0-0 draw against Ukraine . In May 2012 Martial took part with the team at the U17 European Championship in Slovenia , where the team was eliminated in the preliminary round. He played four games for the U18 national team and scored his first of a total of three goals on his first appearance, a 4-1 win over Austria . In the summer of 2013 Martial took part in the European Championships in Lithuania with the U19s . He was used in all five games of the French and had to admit defeat by the Serbian team 0-1 in the final . On August 13, 2013, Martial played for the U21 team for the first time in a 0-0 draw against Germany . In his second game he scored his first goal in a 5-0 win against Kazakhstan with a 3-0 win in the 19th minute of the game. Overall, he scored four goals in twelve missions for the U21s.

On September 4, 2015, Martial made his debut for France's senior team when he came on for Karim Benzema in the 74th minute in the 1-0 win in the friendly in Portugal . In mid-May 2016, Martial was nominated by national coach Didier Deschamps in the French squad for the European Championship in his own country. In the 2-1 win in the opening game against Romania , Martial made his first competitive appearance for France when he was substituted on when the score was 1-1 in the final quarter of an hour. After starting the second group game against Albania , he was only used again in the final , which was lost 1-0 to Portugal .

On September 1, 2016, Martial scored his first international goal in a 3-1 win over Italy .

Martial's ancestors come from Guadeloupe . He married his childhood sweetheart Samantha and had a daughter with her. After the separation, Martial got together with Melanie Da Cruz in 2016, to whom he is now engaged. In July 2018, they became parents of a son. Martial's older brother Johan (* 1991) is also a soccer player.
