Faustino Marcos Alberto Rojo (born March 20, 1990 in La Plata ) is an Argentine football player .

Career

In the club

He started his career with Estudiantes La Plata in his hometown in 2008 . In January 2011 he moved to Russia to Spartak Moscow . In July 2012 Rojo moved to the traditional Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon . In August 2014, Rojo joined Manchester United in the Premier League for € 20mn . He signed a five-year contract until June 30, 2019; in return, Nani was loaned to Sporting Lisbon.

In the national team

He played his first international match for Argentina on February 9, 2011 in a friendly against Portugal . At the Copa América 2011 he was involved in a game of the national team.

Rojo also took part in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and played six of the seven Argentine games. On June 25, 2014, he scored his first international goal in a 3-2 group game against Nigeria . In the 0-1 defeat in the final against Germany , he completed the entire playing time of 120 minutes including extra time . From the FIFA Rojo was in the 11 Best voted the World Cup.

He was part of the national team of Argentina for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. In the last group game, the 2-1 win against Nigeria, his decisive goal shortly before the end of regular time ensured the Argentines advance to the round of 16.
