Marcus Rashford (born October 31, 1997 in Manchester ) is an English football player . The striker is under contract with Manchester United .
Career
societies
Rashford, whose roots are in St. Kitts and Nevis , grew up in Wythenshawe , a district of Manchester . At the age of nine, he moved from Fletcher Moss Rangers FC to the youth division of Manchester United . For the 2015/16 season, Rashford moved up to the first team squad. He made his debut on February 25, 2016 in the round of 32 of the Europa League against FC Midtjylland . In the 5-1 home win he scored two goals and at the age of 18 became the second youngest Europa League goalscorer after Václav Černý . Three days later he was used for the first time in the Premier League in a 3-2 home win against Arsenal and was able to score two goals again. On September 12, 2017, he made his debut in the Champions League , in which Rashford came on in the 77th minute and scored the goal for the 3-0 final against FC Basel seven minutes later .
National team
Rashford was used twice for the England U-16 and U-18 national team. On March 27, 2016, he made his debut in the 2-1 loss to Canada in the U-20 national team . On May 27, 2016, he made his debut for the England senior team . In England's 2-1 win over Australia , he scored the goal to lead 1-0 in the third minute, making him the youngest player in England history to score on his debut. At the 2016 European Championships in France , he was included in the English squad . He was the youngest of all EM players and came on twice as a substitute, once in the final minutes of the last 16 game against Iceland, which was lost 2-1.
University of Manchester
For his commitment to children in need in Great Britain, he was the youngest recipient to date to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Manchester in July 2020 at the age of just 22 .
