The McLaren Elva is a mid-engined supercar from McLaren Automotive . The vehicle, limited to 249 units, is powered by a four-liter V8 petrol engine with twin - turbo charging and 599 kW (815 hp). According to the manufacturer, the sports car is the lightest production vehicle from McLaren that has been built to date.

Vehicle designation

The name Elva comes from the French "elle va", which means "she goes". It is supposed to commemorate the McLaren Elva built from 1964 to 1967. The Group 7 racing car McLaren M1 (A, B and C) developed by Bruce McLaren at the time was manufactured by Elva Cars , which at that time was already part of Trojan Limited and sold under the designation McLaren Elva Mk. I (M1A, 1964 -1965), Mk. II (M1B, 1965-1966) and Mk. III (M1C, 1967).

aerodynamics

The Elva has very interesting aerodynamics. There are many air inlets and outlets designed to cool the V8 engine. The Elva has no windows, but a windshield is fitted for certain countries, otherwise the car will not follow the guidelines.

  4. Auto Motor Sport: The outer skin is made of carbon fiber and, as is usual with McLaren, is placed over a chassis made of the same material. It not only hides roll bars that extend at lightning speed in an emergency, but also the "Active Air Management System" (AAMS). Much simplified, the technology directs the airstream through various channels so intelligently through the front end and in front of and next to the cockpit that a "bubble of calm" is created in it. However, not at city speed, but only at higher speeds - and the driver can deactivate it there. Thanks to AAMS, the McLaren Elva should be easy to drive without a helmet. Those who do not trust high-tech can also order a permanent windshield in certain markets.
