The McLaren 765LT is a sports car from McLaren Automotive that is internally counted in the Super Series .

history

Originally, the sports car based on the McLaren 720S was supposed to be presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the auto salon was canceled on February 28, 2020, which is why the premiere on March 3, 2020 could only be seen on the Internet. Deliveries of the vehicle, which is limited to 765 units, are scheduled to begin in September 2020. As a direct predecessor of in the true McLaren 650S builds McLaren 675LT .

The suffix “LT” is an allusion to the racing version of the McLaren F1 called the F1 GTR “Longtail” .

technology

The front splitter is placed five millimeters closer to the ground than on the 720S, which increases the vehicle's inclination for better contact pressure .

Compared to the 720S Coupé, the weight is reduced by around 80 kg through the use of carbon fiber , special light alloy rims and polycarbonate windows . In addition, the 765LT can be delivered without air conditioning and audio system. With an output increased to 563 kW (765 hp), the 765LT is the most powerful model in McLaren's Super Series . The top speed of 330 km / h is below that of the McLaren 720S, as the optimized aerodynamics are not designed for a higher top speed. The 765LT should accelerate to 100 km / h in 2.8 seconds, which is a tenth of a second faster than the 720S.
