body

The super sports car follows the tradition of the test vehicle C 111 and, in addition to a sleek design, also has gull-wing doors like the legendary 300 SL . The C 112, which weighs around 1600 kg, was intended primarily as a test vehicle for the flow behavior of the body and the ABC chassis. The adjustable front and rear spoilers, which could be used as air brakes , are also interesting . This air brake can be found in the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren . The interior has a complete leather interior as well as an automatic climate control and cassette radio.

technology

The drive is the 6.0-liter V12 from the SL 600 . Installed as a mid- engine, like in the SL, it has an output of 300 kW. There would also have been room for even more powerful engines. Power is transmitted via a 6-speed manual transmission. For the first time, the Mercedes engineers installed a distance warning device (similar to the one that has been offered in the S-Class for several years) and a chassis with Active Body Control . Mercedes-Benz indicated a top speed of over 310 km / h, the acceleration from 0-100 km / h should be around 5 seconds.

production

Despite 700 orders, the company decided not to let the vehicle go into series production. So the C 112 remained a pure test vehicle.
