The Mercedes-Benz Vaneo ( W 414 ) is a high-roof station wagon from DaimlerChrysler that came onto the market in February 2002 after its presentation at the 2001 IAA.

The Vaneo is based on the first generation of the A-Class . It is a good 20 cm higher and 41 cm longer than the long version. The rear seats are accessed via sliding doors. The Vaneo has a one-piece tailgate or a double-leaf door on its back.

The engine range consisted of the A-class engines (after the facelift) with 55–92 kW (75–125 hp). The 1.4-liter engine was not installed in the Vaneo, instead the throttled 1.6-liter version of the A 140 automatic . The 1.7-liter diesel with an output of 70 kW (95 hp) in the A-Class after the facelift came in the Vaneo only 67 kW (91 hp).

The Vaneo was built in the Ludwigsfelde automobile plant near Berlin.

Was criticized at the Vaneo u. a. the seating comfort, quality defects and the price.

The sales of the Vaneo remained below the forecasts; DaimlerChrysler cut production after a few months due to lack of demand. Three years after the market launch, DaimlerChrysler announced in February 2005 that it would stop production in the same year. By then around 55,000 copies of the Vaneo had been made.

After a break of several years, the successor Mercedes-Benz Citan came onto the market in October 2012 . It is based on the Renault Kangoo and is available in different lengths.
