The Antos is a Mercedes-Benz truck series that was designed for heavy-duty distribution transport and has been on sale since September 2012. For the most part, it is a newly developed vehicle.

Together with the Mercedes-Benz Arocs , it replaces the previous Axor and Mercedes-Benz Actros series in heavy-duty distribution transport and represents the second expansion stage of the new Mercedes-Benz truck range. Instead of covering all body variants with one vehicle as before the members of the new model family designed for specific areas. The Antos is therefore only available in 6 cab versions (2.3 meter wide cab) in medium length (length: 2 m) and short version (1.7 m), while the new Actros is available in 2.3 and 2.5 meters width . Both cab variants can be ordered with an engine tunnel height of 170 mm or 320 mm and a flat or normal roof.

The Antos is available as a semitrailer tractor and a chassis with 67 different wheelbases with center distances between 2650 and 6700 mm. There are also the model variants Volumer with a low frame (880 mm) especially for large or extensive freight and loaders with a lower empty weight than the normal version in order to gain more payload .

The design of the vehicle consists of elements from the Actros sibling series, but has a modified headlight optics and a radiator grille with just three or four slats instead of the four or five slats on the Actros. Due to the lower vehicle height, all versions of the Antos have a so-called engine tunnel . The interior is similar to that of the Actros, but in a gray color scheme.

The Antos was launched after the IAA Commercial Vehicles in September 2012.

Are used common rail - diesel engines of the Mercedes-Benz engine types OM 936 (7.7 liters), OM 470 (10.7 l) OM 471 (12.8 l) and OM 473 (15.6 l) in 16 different power levels. All engines comply with the Euro 6 emissions standard as standard or on request . The output is between 175 and 460 kW (238 to 625 hp). As in the Actros the force is in series by using the automatic transmission type Powershift 3 to the axes transmitted. While engines from 175 kW (238 hp) are used in the chassis , engines from 235 kW (320 hp) are available in the tractor units.
