The Mercedes-Benz L 1500 is a light truck from the Mercedes-Benz brand .

variants

Daimler-Benz AG produced the L 1500 around 9,000 times from around 1941 to 1944. This type existed in two versions: the rear-wheel driven model L 1500 S and the all-wheel model L 1500A . With around 4,900 units, the L 1500 A is the most popular variant that was mainly produced as a personnel carrier for the Wehrmacht . Of the approximately 4100 L 1500 S, 3600 were built as light fire fighting vehicles (see picture on the right). Erdmann & Rossi built two convertibles on L-1500 chassis.

technology

The L 1500 S is a two-axle truck. It is built on a ladder frame. The engine is the Mercedes-Benz M 159 R6 petrol engine with carburetor, which develops 60 hp (44 kW) from a displacement of 2.6 l. The power is transmitted via a manual four-speed gearbox. The wheels with 190-20 tires have drum brakes. The L 1500 A with all-wheel drive differs from the L 1500 S in that it has a driven front axle, a transfer case with off-road reduction, greater ground clearance and wider tires. The payload has been increased by 180 kg.
