The 437.1 series is a medium-duty truck in the Unimog series from Mercedes-Benz, which was built from 1988 to 2003. It replaced the 425 and 435 series , the basic structure of which was retained in the Unimog 437.1. With 28 different models, the 437.1 series is the most extensive Unimog series. A total of 10,718 vehicles were produced. For the first time there was also a three-axle model as standard. Was replaced in 2003 by the 437.1 437.4 . The 437.1 series also served as the basis for the 436 series, which is manufactured under license in Turkey.

technology

Like its predecessor 435, the Unimog 437.1 has the "angular" cab of the Unimog 425 or the heavy model series. As a two-axle vehicle, it is designed for a gross vehicle weight of 7.5 to 14.5 t, depending on the model. All Unimog 437.1 have a ladder frame and push tube guided portal axles as well as coil springs and shock absorbers at the front and rear. The Unimog 437.1 was built with a wheelbase of 2650 (U 1x00), 2810 (U 2100), 3250 (U xx50), 3700 (xx50 / L37) 3850 (xx50 / L38) mm. It can be switched pneumatically between rear-wheel and all-wheel drive and the differentials on the front and rear axles can be 100% blocked pneumatically. A tire pressure control system was also available on request. A pneumatic-hydraulic brake system and disc brakes on all wheels are used for braking. Various variants of the six-cylinder OM 366 diesel engine were offered for the Unimog 437.1.
