technology

The Unimog 435, together with the 425, forms the first heavy Unimog series with a "square" cab and is designed as a 7.5-tonne truck. Like its predecessor, the Unimog S , it has a cranked ladder frame and thrust tube-guided portal axles as well as coil springs at the front and rear. The Unimog was built with three different wheelbases, 3250, 3700 and 3850 mm. It can be switched between rear-wheel and all-wheel drive . A fully synchronized eight-speed gearbox is installed as standard , which could be expanded to include a work reduction and a crawler gear if necessary . The differentials can be locked. Depending on the axle ratio in the differentials and the front wheel of the portal axle and depending on the engine, the maximum speed is between 80 and 110 km / h. The brake system is a pneumatic, hydraulic dual-circuit brake system with disc brakes , optionally also with a pneumatic trailer brake system. An engine dust brake was also available. It is steered with hydraulic support. Direct-injection six-cylinder in-line diesel engines of the OM 352 series with and without turbocharging from the Mercedes-Benz brand were installed.
