Types 6500 and 7500 are two-axle trucks from Magirus-Deutz that were produced as an 18-tonne tractor unit and chassis with a longer wheelbase for various bodies. A preceding S means rear-wheel drive, an A stands for all-wheel drive. The rear-wheel drive models are equipped with a rounded bonnet, the all-wheel drive models have a square bonnet. The 7500 types have a larger payload than the 6500 types.

technology

Types 6500 and 7500 are trucks with ladder frames and rigid axles at the front and rear. Twin tires are mounted on the rear axle, the vehicles have single tires on the front axle, all tires are size 11-20. The axles are sprung with two semi-elliptical longitudinal leaf springs at the front and rear, there are no shock absorbers. All chassis are delivered with left-hand drive, the steering is a single-finger steering from ZF Friedrichshafen . The brake has brake drums with compressed air operated inner jaws and a diameter of 440 mm, of the Knorr or Westinghouse type , on all four wheels.

The drive power is transmitted from the engine to the gearbox via a single-disc dry friction clutch of the type Fichtel & Sachs LA 70 . The mechanical transmission of the type ZF AK 6-55 has six gears and a dog clutch. It is firmly attached to the engine. The transmission transmits the power to the rear wheels in S-types and to all wheels in A-types. The maximum speed of the car is 71 or 72 km / h.

engine

engine

The engine is a Deutz F8L 614 , an air-cooled four - stroke diesel engine with eight cylinders in a V-arrangement . It has two overhead valves per cylinder and indirect injection with swirl chambers . The displacement of 10644 cm³ results from a bore of 110 mm and a stroke of 140 mm. The engine delivers 125 kW at 2300 min -1 . The cylinders are individually made from special cast iron and have dry liners. There is a cylinder head made of a light metal alloy for each cylinder. The pistons are also made of light metal and have three compression rings and two oil control rings. In order to transfer the power from the pistons to the crankshaft, steel connecting rods with a double-T shaft cross-section are used; they are mounted on sliding bearings. The crankcase is a split cast iron housing with lubricating oil bores. The valves are operated via tappets , push rods and rocker arms from a camshaft located below , which is supported by five bearings and is driven by spur gears. The motor is lubricated by pressure circulation , the oil is conveyed by a gear oil pump and cleaned by a slot filter in the main flow. The sucked in air is filtered by an oil bath air filter with a cyclone and fed to each cylinder via a group suction pipe per cylinder bank. The fuel is filtered with a cell filter insert and pumped from the 150 liter fuel tank by a piston pump to the Bosch PE 8 A 75 injection pump, which injects it through a Bosch DNO SD 211 injection nozzle at an injection pressure of 124 bar into the swirl chamber.
