List of wheeled vehicles of the Bundeswehr

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Iron Cross - national emblem of the Bundeswehr

This list covers the wheeled vehicles of the Bundeswehr . The list is sorted according to vehicle type and, in the case of trucks, which make up the majority of vehicles, also according to vehicle generations. These result from the procurement period and the procurement projects of the Bundeswehr.

A distinction is also made between military (mil), partially militarized (tmil) and civil, commercially available (hü) vehicles. With the establishment of the BwFuhrparkService , more and more vehicles are used with the equipment “commercially available with special military equipment” (hümS).

Explanations of the tables

  • Model: Name of the vehicle
  • Image: photo or sketch of the vehicle
  • Period of service from ...: Start of employment by the Bundeswehr
  • Period of service until ...: End of use by the Bundeswehr
  • Total number : Total number of copies in the Bundeswehr
  • Comments: Information on the origin, purpose, modification, etc. of the model in the Bundeswehr
  • User: armed forces of the German armed forces ( army / air force / navy / armed forces base ) in which the model is or has been used. Experimental and sample samples that have only been tested by the Defense Technical Services or one of their predecessor institutions are marked separately with "WTD".

Vehicles currently in service are highlighted in light green in the tables.

Trucks

1st generation trucks

With the exception of a few vehicles taken over by the Federal Border Police and the NATO allies , the Bundeswehr was initially equipped with new, fully off-road vehicles from German production. The Bundeswehr also procured a small number of American military trucks exclusively for special units with American equipment. There are no longer any 1st generation trucks in the Bundeswehr's current fleet.

Protected and armored wheeled vehicles

Armored vehicles have armor protection for the entire system (vehicle, crew, functionality and mobility). They are used as combat vehicles. In the case of protected vehicles, the crew and the mobility of the vehicle are given priority, but the engine, transmission and transmission elements are not, or not to the same extent, secured. Protected vehicles are command, transport and functional vehicles that have to perform defined tasks.
