Drawing of a Faun-Z-912 / 21-155 tractor

The Faun Z 912/21 was a military truck made by the German commercial vehicle manufacturer Faun and belonged to the 1st generation of wheeled vehicles of the Bundeswehr .

Between 1961 and 1969 the vehicle was built in the variant Z 912/21 -155 and -203 as a tractor for the corresponding artillery pieces, in the variants L 912/21 MUN-RK and 912/21 MUN as an ammunition transporter for the artillery and as a Z -912 / 21-A1 tractor for the anti-aircraft guns of the Skysweeper type .

description

The vehicle was a three-axle all-wheel drive front control arm (6 × 6) with a double steering front axle and a flatbed . An air-cooled Deutz V12 diesel engine of the type F 12 L 714 A with 195 kW (265 hp) was installed behind the driver's cab .

As is typical for many military trucks of the 1st generation of the Bundeswehr, the driver's cab was not closed, but had a foldable fabric top and a front window that could be folded down so that the vehicle could also be driven in a combat manner if necessary.

The relatively short flatbed with a wooden floor could be used to transport loads of up to 10 t (e.g. for ballast weights for heavy trailers) or personnel. An ITAG cable winch with 10 t pulling force and 60 m rope length was installed at the rear below the platform .

Faun Z 921/21 MUN (truck tractor)

The tractor of the type Faun Z 921/21 MUN was an ammunition transporter with a 1-ton crane that was mounted on the flatbed on the right in front of the rear axle.
