Mercedes-Benz Type 230 n (1937)
The car was built on the short chassis with a pendulum axle at the rear and an axleless construction with transverse leaf springs at the front of the type 200 (W 21) . The body was longer and wider than that of its predecessor. The six-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 2229 cc and 55 hp (40 kW) also came from the W 21, but had a fully-fledged four-speed gearbox. The two- or four-door sedan, the convertible A or C as well as the pure chassis and the roadster were available as factory bodies. The grille is a little swept, tilted backwards and has no crossbars for the headlights, which gives the vehicle a sleeker look. The vehicle reaches a top speed of 116 km / h.
However, these models on a short chassis were not well received by the public, so they were removed from the range in the year they were released.
Mercedes-Benz Type 230 (1937-1941)
Together with the previously mentioned models, the versions on the long W 21 chassis were offered. In this case, too, the bodies were longer and wider than those of the predecessor. Technically there was no difference to type 230 n; In addition to the chassis, the four-door sedan and the Cabriolet A, Cabriolets B and D, Pullman sedans , powerhouses ( taxis ) and a six-seater touring car with a convertible top and without side windows were also offered.
The type 260 D with diesel engine, which had previously appeared on the chassis of the W 21, was also converted to the new design in 1937.
The long chassis models were available until 1941.
