Mercedes-Benz SLK

The Mercedes-Benz SLK is a model series that was introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 1996 . The SLK is a roadster that is smaller and cheaper than the well-known Mercedes SL . Although the name Mercedes SLK not officially understood as an abbreviation, it is often with S portlich, L calibrates, K ompact (sometimes called K uick) specified.

Technically (chassis / engines) the SLK is closely related to the C-Class (202 series) (SLK R 170), the C-Class (203 series) (SLK R 171) and the C-Class (204 series) ( SLK R 172). A special feature of the SLK is the folding steel roof , which Daimler also calls the “Vario roof”. When open, it disappears completely and automatically in the trunk of the SLK. As it is made of steel, it combines the advantages of a hard top with the flexibility of a folding top.
