The Citaro K (also O 530 K) is a city bus from the Mercedes-Benz Citaro series and also the shortest model.

Executions

The manufacturer is EvoBus in Mannheim. With its length of 10.5 m it is a midibus in low-floor construction.

It can only be seen as the successor to the Mercedes-Benz Cito to a limited extent because it was available in lengths of 8 to 9.5 m and was also narrower than the solo buses. It is difficult to see in the street because it is visually very similar to the 12 m Citaro and the standard version of the O 530 K also has double doors at the front and in the middle, but there are also special requests for the simple front door, such as for Bernmobil . Comparable models from other manufacturers usually only have a single front door. However, there are small features that distinguish the Citaro K from the 12 meter bus.

Its first public appearance was at the IAA commercial vehicle fair in 2006. This vehicle is used, for example, by Hagener Straßenbahn AG , in Butzbach, the Havelbus company in Potsdam / Brandenburg, Wuppertal, in Mannheim and also in Switzerland at PostBus . The shipping company Norden-Frisia also owns a copy. The Citaro K is also widespread in Switzerland, Poland and France. A hybrid version of the Citaro C2 K has also been available since 2018 .

Differences to the 12 meter bus

Here you can see small features that could help differentiate the Citaro K from the 12 meter bus, the features are circled in yellow and red respectively.

The differences with the Facelift K with 2 doors
With the 2 door version of the C2
The features of the C2 with 3 doors
  • Facelift K 2 doors

- There is only a 2 door version of the Facelift K.

- At the K there are only 2 windows between the front and back door and the 12 meter bus has another window in front of the back door.

  • C2 K 2 doors

- As with the Facelift K, it can best be seen in the windows between the front and back doors.

  • C2 K 3 doors

- In the 12 meter bus, there is also a short window installed after the central door.

- Another feature of the C2 K under the windows is the small gap between the rear wheel and the center door.

- You can also recognize it by the side marker light that is in between, on the 12 meter bus there is a significantly larger area to the left of the side marker light than on the K.
